Welcome to another episode of what would Charlotte say, and today I am answering a question that has come about quite a lot recently Why Am I Getting Push Back From My Team About Systems? That’s from business owners that are looking to implement systems into their business.
And this is a really really positive step, and it’s a step that all businesses should take.
If you have a team already. One of the most common issues that arise is not the implementation of the systems or the time to create them. It’s the pushback that business owners receive from their teams, about implementing systems. And I wanted to just talk today about why that happens and what you can do to stop that from happening for you.
The majority of the time, although I believe that systems should be incorporated into your business, from the first day that you start your business.
A lot of the time that doesn’t happen and it usually happens when you are around the growth stage, and you probably have a team already or you have had a team already.
And you felt that you’re in chaos, you don’t really know what’s happening. So that’s when you realise that actually, you need systems. But then, that presents the issue of your team, getting on board with systems. And one of the main reasons that your team is pushing back on you incorporating systems into your business is because they have probably heard the myth
When you start streamlining and incorporating systems. That means that you’re getting rid of people, or their role no longer exists.
And that’s the main concern that your team is probably facing at the moment. So, one of the best ways that you can get your team on board is to let them know that their role is safe.
This is a positive change. It is a change that’s going to help them grow because it means that they’re going to be concentrating on the process and tasks that are actually pushing the business forward. And therefore it’s generating bigger and better opportunities for your team members to progress in their role. To really take them to the next level. Once you start treating it as a positive for them and not just you things will change.
You want to make it positive, don’t just throw them in, don’t start the systems, and then just say we’re incorporating systems now this is what we’re doing.
Involve them. So making sure that it’s a positive change in their eyes, but getting them involved. Letting them know where they stand. What are their responsibilities for helping bring these systems to life? Are you going to ask them to maintain them? Maybe ask them to be involved in, when they’re taking it when you’re taking parts out of a process.
Are you going to ask them to be involved with the streamlining? Ultimately what you want to be doing with your team is saying. This is a really positive change for us as a business and buying incorporating these changes.
It means we’re getting rid of the steps or looking to get rid of the steps or automate the steps that you don’t like doing.
Because even your team members are going to have certain parts of a job that they don’t enjoy. And if you are saying to them. Okay, I get that. Let’s see what we can do to remove that from you having to do it.
That’s a win-win your team is gonna be on board because it’s positive. You’re letting them know you’re involving them you’re giving them responsibility. And you are reassuring them that this is not a reflection on the work that they’re doing. This is to enable the business to grow and it’s ultimately to make their job a lot easier, and mean that they can have more progression in that role.
So, as always, I hope that’s helped answer Why Am I Getting Push Back From My Team About Systems?
I know it’s an issue that many, many business owners face when they have a team member or multiple team members. And they start to make changes in the business.
Ultimately, we’re human, we don’t like change unless it’s a positive change or we can see the reasoning behind it.
So as always if you do have any questions that you would like me to answer, then pop me a message and I’d be happy to do that. Till next time, bye.
